Things I Love Thursday: Dyslexia Progress

A collection of items arranged as a collage on a small wooden table. Words written on cut out white paper reads: Things I Love Thursday. Assorted items in collage include: A mint and white teacup and saucer filled with crystal stones, a quartz pendulum, and a plastic macaroon. A walnut, two (2) red hearts, a snail wearing a black beret, two (2) strands of stone beads (purple fluorite and green aventurine), a bottle of purple nail polish, a pink rose, a silver colored seven pointed star candle holder, a small tan tea pot, a note pad in summery colors with the image of a popsicle on it, and a decorative pen.

Howdy and welcome to Thursday!  How has your week been.  Here are a few of the things I loved this week.

To Work or Not to Work

Vintage black and white drawing of a young woman in a simple Victorian dress and boots sitting at a desk writing.

So I am finding out more and more that I am kind of a workaholic.  I am trying to make it a rule not to work after a certain hour and to not work during my main meals.  But it is super easy to get caught up in research or writing or start claying.  It really is for me.

Things I Love Thursday: Rose Thorns

A collection of items arranged as a collage on a small wooden table. Words written on cut out white paper reads: Things I Love Thursday. Assorted items in collage include: A mint and white teacup and saucer filled with crystal stones, a quartz pendulum, and a plastic macaroon.     Through out much of my life I always had a sense that I wanted to work with my hands.  Not the same feelings as I had for math and science, but a quiet pull.  I am happy to say that I now work with my hands.  I got the great opportunity this past weekend to sell at a larger venue than I usually do and I had a great time and sold several items.  I haven't done a lot with clay since Saturday since I had some other projects to work on and the fact that I was super tuckered out.  But I did make one thing this week.  I made it because I just couldn't keep the idea in my head.  I had to try it out.

A Busy Time

It was a busy week.  Saturday was fantastic, but it was draining.  I was still rather exhausted part of Monday.  But I spent the week before that doing lots of work.  I focused on producing new items to sell at the market and a writing project that, if all goes well, will be posted later this week.

Things I Love Thursday: Artist Laughs

Last night I got to chat with a fellow artist who works with jewelry.  Both of us are working over time for the same craft fair.  We got to talk about the pain you start to feel when you have been working with little things for hours and how your vision can get fuzzy from focusing too long.  We both knew the pain, but got a good laugh out of posing for a silly picture.  Friendship is awesome.  Here is this weeks list of happy.

Fairy Oasis: Craft Sale

Image of a hand drawn sign. Green vines and purple drooping flowers. Text in black reads: Fairy Oasis

This past weekend I got signed up to do a bigger crafting sale than I have been doing regularly.  I am really excited.  But that also means that I have a lot of work to do this week leading up to it.  I want to create a lot of new pieces to bring.  There will be more foot traffic than I get at Soulful Saturday, so if noting else my shop will get more exposure.

I picked up more pens to build onto and I also collected a few crystals to work with.  I am very excited.  I will have my hands full of work this week and I am really excited about it.

Just thought I would share this news with you all.  Is anything exciting happening in your life?

 Tata,
 Lilian

Happiness: Glasses

Photo of a pair of black plastic framed glasses with broken frames. A sad face doodled onto the photo.

So it has been over two weeks since my glasses broke.  It is not fun not having glasses.  On the plus side I do have contacts.  But between the distortion from the contacts and my dyslexia I can not read.  I love reading.  But beside that, my choices for going to the grocery store without glasses are either I can find the aisle I am looking for or I can read labels.  Yep that is awkward.  Good thing I have other people with me.

Well another week has passed and it is Thursday again.  Have you tried making a list of things that have made you happy or gone your way?  Have you done it recently?  Have you tried it today?  It isn't some magical pill that will turn everything in your life around, yet it is still an incredible tool that you can have in your arsenal against the mehs & blahs of life.

April Try-Its 2016

Photograph of a pair of flowers made out of pipe cleaners sticking out of a ball of yarn. Text reads, "Happy April. Let's be odd."

Happy February! lols I mean April.  I do enjoy April 1st.  Not the crude or mean pranks some people like to do.  April Fool's day to me is a day to be silly.  To wear mismatched socks or a silly hat.  To make funny faces at children and to tell more jokes.  But anyway that is my little bit for April Fool's Day.  It is the first of the month and it is time to set my goals and try-its for the month.
