Things I Love Thursday: Not Dyslexia

So it has been a good week.  But my dyslexia is really bad so my intro will be short.  On to the good stuff.

Progress on my 13 Autumn Goals

Tomorrow is the first day of Winter.  So I'd like to take a moment to look back at my 13 autumn goals and talk about how I've been doing on them.

Decorate for Autumn

Not as much as I would have liked to but we did it and we had fun.   We being my roommates and I.   We bought some little gourds, a cornucopia, a cinnamon broom, and I made a little autumn themed  bouquet.   It was fun.

Things I Love Thursday: Bike Rides

I am certainty feeling better after being sick much of last month.  I went on my first good bike ride Tuesday.  I even found a road that had a good stretch that went down hill.  Those can be exhilarating.  Also on that trip I stopped here and there to take pictures.  It was all over a lot of fun.  Good exercise too.  Which is a good way to pick up your mood.  Anyway today is Thursday.  You know what that means right?  Gratitude lists!

Polymer Creations For Sale

Hello everyone!   I've become pretty confident with my little creations using polymer clay.   This weekend I'll be going to an event to see if I can sell any of them.   If you happen to be in the Corpus Christi area I invite you to come down and say hello.   Here are some pictures of some of the items I'll be taking.

Things I Love Thursday: Rice Bags

My emotions have been up and down this week.  But I have plenty I am happy for.  Some weeks ago one of my roommates made us all rice bags that we can heat up in the microwave and sooth sore muscles with.  Oh they hold the heat so well.

I Have Depression

Chalk art reads: I have depression. The words are tangled up by a thorny vine of pink roses and a large yellow and orange sun in the corner shines line art streaks of sunlight through the words and vines.

I've been seeing BuzzFeed's wonderful videos this week on mental health.  It really helps to hear other people talk about how they're going through things that I myself have to deal with.   For some time  I have wanted to talk about this subject and I've gotten some of it down, but it's a tough topic.   I have depression.  For as long as I can remember I have had depression even if in the beginning I didn't have a name for it.   Even if for a long time I did not have a name for it.  Depression makes everything harder.

Things I Love Thursday: Bullet Journaling

I started bullet journaling in August.  It has been really helpful.  Especially since I lost my day job this past month.  It is helping me not only to remember what I need to get done, but it also serves as part of a routine.  If you are trying to find a way to organize your life, consider giving the bullet journal system a try.  There are lots of videos and tutorials out there.  And bonus, bullet journaling can be relatively inexpensive.  So first on my list this week? Bullet Journals.

December Try-Its & Goals

Alright folks it's a new month.   December is here and I am ready.   Every month I like to try and set a few goals or try-its which are things I want to try to do so they're less solid than goals  or maybe  less urgent.   But they are still things that I'd like to do.   So here are this month’s things to try.

November 30, 2015

November Favorites

November has been a rough month.   Through some unpleasant circumstances I have lost my day job.   The good thing is this opens up my time and energy to things I would rather be doing anyway,  however it also means my finances from here on out are uncertain at best.
Still I have found some things that I and particularly  fond of.   So here goes,  my list of favorite things this November.

November 26, 2015

Things I Love Thursday: Happy Turkey Day

Today in the United States it is Thanksgiving.  For many of us that means food and family.  It means being thankful for what we have.  Being thankful is a great practice.  So instead of just enjoying the meal, how about asking everyone about something they enjoyed that year.  Don't judge anyone's answers.  Just enjoy yourselves and share.

November 19, 2015

Things I Love Thursday: Freedom

Well yesterday served me up some unpleasant circumstances.  However through those I have gained freedom from a situation I had come to dread.  My emotions are still flip flopping around, but at least now I can focus more time and energy on things that are important to me.

November 12, 2015

Things I Love Thursday: Inclusion

It has been a rough week.   Though objectively I have noticed that  my demeanor and outlook are far more positive than they have been in previous years.   There are lot of things that I can  thank for that.   One of those things and one of those people are gala darling and her lovely TiLT posts.

Here are some of the other things I am thankful for or enjoyed this week.

Things I Love Thursday: Zombie Alpaca Cuddles

There's been a lot of fun things this week.   However,  I am again a little bit unwell.   I was really worried that it might have been the infection I had a couple weeks ago coming back.   I am super grateful that is not.   My roommates,  my family,  have been a great help and very supportive.   And there is still so much I am happy about this week.   Without my regular gratitude lists I don't think I would have as positive a mindset.   On to the list.

NaNoWriMo Survival Kits

Green plushie alpaca holding a packet of the Emergen-C while standing over a coloring book and surrounded by color pencils. Text reads: NaNoWriMo survival kits

So we're just at the beginning of NaNoWriMo and today I'd like to talk about building your own survival kit.   There are so many different things that you can put in your own survival kit and each person's kit will be a little different from the next.  I will tell you about some of the things I have in my survival kit and why I have been in my survival kit.   Time's a wastin’ so let's get started.

I take a variety of vitamins and I use Emergen-C.    We can not afford to get sick during NaNoWriMo.  So, I find it best to just take preventative measures.

Stress.   It is going to happen.   so having something you can do to help you relax is very important.   this month I am using an adult coloring book.   it has a lot of nice nature images in it that I can just take my time and color in the spaces.
I wouldn't suggest using another creative project to help you relax as it will take creative energy to work on.   Rather I would suggest using something that you can just let go on.

Furthermore on stress,  It is helpful to have something that gives you comfort.   There are lots of different things you can use.   fuzzy animals,  your favorite nephew,  or a beloved plushie.   this month in my survival kit I'm using Gregory my new zombie alpaca.   He's  soft,  cuddly,  green,  and he has a very determined look in his face.    Gregory is my mascot this month.

There are plenty of things other than this that a person might want in their own personal survival kit.   It all depends on what your needs are.   What are some things you would put in a NaNoWriMo survival kit?

November Try-Its & Goals

Image of tree foliage that fades from pink to yellow. Text reads: November Try-its.

Well October is done.  I felt rather cheated about it.  But November is here and I have decided that I am taking back November.  I and my room mates will know it is November and it will feel like November.  Aside from the fact that all of us will be attempting NaNoWriMo.

Oh October, where did you go?  I really just feels like it has been September all month.  I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Halloween.

Things I Love Thursday: Dance To The Music

I am feeling so much better this week.  I was hit so hard by sickness last week that I must say the first thing I am grateful for this week is good health.  It is a blissful thing to have.

I Don't Like Being Sick

Hi everyone.  I am not feeling good this week.  Being sick makes it hard to focus.  So I don't have a TiLT post for you today.  Maybe later when I am feeling well enough to focus.  Here is one thing I always love to listen to.

    Amanda Palmer's Ukulele Anthem.

Well I hope you enjoy that.  Amanda Palmer is awesome and so encouraging.

P.S. I named my new tiny octopus Iggy

Things I Love Thursday: As Promised, Music!

It has been a busy week.  Or at least it feels like it.  Here are some of the things I loved this week and music I have been digging this month.

Quick Break From Realmscon

My roommate took a pic of my Friday outfit.
I played around with the color and saturation.

Conventions take a lot of energy.  Walking, rushing, trying to remember to eat and drink enough water.  Trying not to over exert yourself.  If you are wearing constrictive clothing like a corset or a chest binder you have to be careful.  Friday I felt good.  A nice flat chest to wear a thrifted boys shirt I picked to go with my steam punk.  I am having a lot of fun with this hobby and there are lots of nice people.  Great crafters and builders that are happy to talk shop and trade tips.

But for me that is one of the parts that is difficult.  Like many introverts I can't be around lots of people for long periods of time without loosing energy.  So it is always nice to be able to step away and check out for a bit.  Or to go to a nice quiet place with very few people.  So here I sit at home taking a break.

I was super excited the moment I saw the sign for Tasty Peach Studios in the dealers room.  I have been eyeing the zombie alpacas since I saw them at Matsuri.  (I almost can't believe I have been to three cons this year.  I feel so lucky.)  So I didn't even check out everything else they had at the table I bought one of the cuties right away.  It has these adorable evil or mischievous eyes.

I am also thinking about picking up a piece of armor from Airship Isabella.  It is so pretty.  So pretty.  Airship Isabella is awesome and so inclusive.  I always feel safe and able to be myself around them.

Well that is all for now.  Maybe I'll tel you all a little more about the convention tomorrow.

P.S. There is a Lolita Fashion Show Sunday at 2pm at Realmscon.  :)

Things I Love Thursday: Steampunking

We have been preparing and preparing for the convention.  And we still have some things to finish before tomorrow.  I am gonna dress in steampunk, shironuri, and lolita.  I am helping my roommate make a great hate to go with her steampunk character.  I have been busy all day and I am just now getting around to posting my TiLT list for this week.  With out any further delay here is my list.

Things I Love Thursday: Origami

Oy.  I am tired from today.  Got a lot of stuff done,  Yet not all the things I had planned.  Oh well.  We all have days like that.  How has your week been?

Here are some of the nuggets of sunshine from my week.

My 13 Autumn Goals

Happy Autumn everyone!  I had a great day and I came up with my list for the season.  Plus I even did one of my recent goals.  I made several origami butterflies.  I'll have to post some pictures later.  They are cute and pretty.

The 13 Seasonal Goals Challenge

Image from

Schools are starting back up and for many people this signals the end of summer.  It may be the end of summer vacation, however autumn is not here yet.

Autumn starts on September 23rd this year.  And on that day I will start another  13 seasonal goals challenge.

Why let the days go by unnoticed?  Why let the seasonal events and activities fly by with out being enjoyed?  This autumn is ours for the taking.  There are scores of things to try.  Would you like to start your own adventure for autumn?

     Then keep reading.

Things I Love Thursday: Robot Hugs

Robot Hugs.  Seriously.  As a gender queer person who has to deal with depression I love that Robot Hugs so clearly illustrates things I am concerned about.  I feel far less alone seeing that I am not the only one that deals with these things.  Sure they say all the time that you are not alone, but to actually see your troubles illustrated without asking some one to do it sticks so much better than words from a person who doesn't relate.  Check out the Robot Hugs web comic.  It's awesomely great.

Things I Love Thursday: Terreria, Coloring, and Explosives

This was a busy week.  I did get to share gratitude lists with a wonderful study group I am in.  I also got to play a lot of Terreria.

September 4, 2015

September Try-Its and Goals

Well we are half a week into September.  I have a few goals and things to try for myself.  How about you?

Do you have any hobbies you want to try your hand at?  Movies you want to see?  Friends you've been meaning to hang with?    Let me know.  It is so awesome to share.  Whether they are goals, to dos, or whatever.

Things I Love Thursday: Nomato

Anyone who has to deal with a food allergy can tell you that food can be a stressful thing.  I have an allergy to tomatoes.  Just take a moment to imagine all the foods that that is in.

Yes of course there is pizza and spaghetti, but you may be surprised to learn that the are many soups, salad dressings and even chips I have to avoid even touching.  Food is a big stresser for me.

However, my room mate and I learned about a thing called nomato.  My room mate is the most awesome person in the whole world.  She made some nomato in the slow cooker and then used it in place of tomatoes in some of her recipes to see if it worked well and so I could eat them.

The results are in.  Her chili and her gumbo are awesome!!!! I was so happy and they were so tasty!

August 27, 2015

Things I Love Thursday: Humdrum Hunger Games

I read The Hunger Games over the summer along with a group of friends.  I really enjoyed the ride.  And it is always better to have friends to talk to about books.  Last night we got to view the movie together.  I however didn't see the end.  I was bored.  So bored.  It felt like they were just trying to cram everything in as quickly as they could.  It was fun to watch with friends though.  We made a few cracks at the movie.

I am glad I saw at least part of it though.  I will be reading the next two books, but I'll pass on the movies.  I have a lot to be happy about this week.  OR at least I feel like I do.  I am in such a good mood.

Spotlight: The Great Lolita International Scavenger Hunt

You may have heard me talking about GISHWHES.  A wondrous adventure I take part in each year that produces pictures such as this
Teddy bear hostage situation.
and this
Dramatically posed book fairy.
Plus, GISHWHES is a great reason (as if you really need one) to dress nice and be weird.

Well in the last week I learned about GLISH.  "An event for Lolita fashion enthusiasts from all over the world to come together, have fun, and support community building."

Please take a moment to read about how they came up with the idea and what they want to support.  With less than 300 words it's a quick read.  :D

    It sounds fun doesn't it?

Making new friends is so much fun and international scavenger hunts have proven to me so far that they are a great way to do that.

So what do you think?  Are you interested in participating in a scavenger hunt that will celebrate a fashion that many of us love?  We still have until the 25th to register.  That's not far off.  Tuesday to be exact.

The hunt starts this up coming Saturday and runs for one week.  I am looking forward to this new adventure and I hope to see you too.

P.S. For updates check their website or their Facebook page.  And always, be safe and have fun. <3

Things I Love Thursday: Air Conditioning

This week was a bit rough.  The AC broke and in Texas that can be unpleasant.  However, the AC is now working and I still had a lot of fun this week.  So here are this weeks things I love.

Things I Love Thursday: Masala Chai

I am still not unpacked from the trip.  I got a good bit done yesterday though because I needed a belt to wear.  Motivation for the little tasks can be difficult.  I need to set it up so that I have podcasts to listen to while I work.  Anyway I have a list of things I loved.  Some from this week and some from last.  We had so much fun on our trip and GISHWHES was exciting.  I want to do ten times better next year, but I suspect that there are some things we can do before then.  Anywho on to the list!

6 Books I Am Reading

I am usually reading several books at the same time.  After peer pressure from friends I gave it up for several years.  I started to just read one book at a time. Waiting till I had finished it to start a new book.  It was miserable.  It took me over a year to read Dracula.  And I enjoyed that book too.  But you are not always in the mood for the seriousness of Bram Stoker's Dracula.  Sometimes it is nice to read something lighthearted.  Or something filled with excitement.  After I finally finished Dracula I decided to ignore the people who pestered me and read as many books as I wanted.

At the moment there are six books I am actively reading.

Ask Me

Me in Hotaru Tomoe cosplay laying on floor playing dead.
Picture taken by my friend Rocelyn

I am back from San Japan and GISHWHES is over.  I am tuckered out.

There is so much to talk about and so much we did.  And I have so much mail, email, and Face Book notifications (among other things) to go through.

As such I have had a lovely little snack, prepared myself a cup of tea, and now I will start sifting through all of those things that really ought to sift through.

So I want to know your questions.  What do you want to hear about from my adventures at San Japan and during GISHWHES? Or any other questions you may have.

 Tata for the moment,

Things I Love Thursday: 10 Things I Love About Being Home

Good morning!  I am back from the amazing weekend and I am smack in the middle of the GISHWHES hunt.  I feel like I am still recovering and getting back into the routine of things.  But that may just be a great reason to start a routine.  There were so many things to talk about the weekend and all the great people I saw and met.  I would love to dedicate some posts to talking in more detail about those things.  So today I will list 10 things I love about being home.

July Favorites 2015

It has been an interesting month.  There has been a lot of mail.  Coming and going.  One of my great friends even sent me a nerdy goody.  Here are some of my favorite things from this month.

Things I Love Thursday: On The Road Again

And we are off.  Me and my wonderful unconventional family.  Off to enjoy ourselves at San Japan.  I am so excited!  The week seems shorter than it really was and we got so much done in preparation for the trip.
Don't forget the pretzels.  A good road food.  You don't get sticky.  You don't have to refrigerate them.  They stay good quite some time.

Things I Love Thursday: Dare Change

Well here we are.  It is Thursday again.  Great week.  Great week.  Here is my list.

Things I Love Thursday: Chocolate Muffins

Hello there.  I had a tasty chocolate muffin with my breakfast.  I also got to finally play some more Minecraft with my friend.  I had so much fun.  I killed a lot of zombies.

Any way it is Thursday and that means it is time for the happy list.

Things I Love Thursday: Snail Mail!

Who doesn't' like snail mail that is not bills?  Who doesn't love getting a package in the mail?  Especially when it is something you ordered and have been waiting for.  I got a letter from one of my Lolita friends.  Such cute stationary.  I also ordered some things this week that came in.  A sweater for am upcoming cosplay along with some fabulous boots I am going to have to mod for another cosplay.  Tehe.  I am thinking of ordering another pair of the boots to keep as is.  I rather like them.  I also got my new chest binder!!! EEEE!!! The first one was too small.  I am super excited to start wearing it.

For more of my excitability keep reading . . .

The Dragon’s Loyalty Award

I got tagged for the Dragon’s Loyalty Award from +Ari Carr of Comics and Cookies on June 7th of 2015.    I am very honored.  In her post I learned she likes creepy stories.  I can get behind that.

July 6, 2015

July Try-Its & Goals

This month should be rather interesting.  And hopefully fun with San Japan at the end.  I will be cosplaying with a couple friends at the con.  I am also hoping to finish a new shironuri outfit.  There will be lots of prep work this month. But I'd still like to try some things out.

July 2, 2015

Things I Love Thursday: Bring Out Your Rainbow Flags

Marriage equality in all 50 states.  What a great way to start of a list of happy things!

June 25, 2015

Things I Love Thursday: Hours of Cat Purrs

There have been several brave Lolita's coming forward this week with their stories about John Leigh of Anime Matsuri.   If you haven't heard yet here are a few links.  A short compilation of info on TumblrMy Experience with Anime Matsuri and John Leigh by Chokelate of Lockshop Wigs. And a petition to  Revoke the Kawaii Ambassador titles from John and Deneice Leigh.

That is a whole lot of negativity for one of my Thursday posts.  I try to keep my TiLT posts positive and happy, but please take a moment to look over the information.  Even if you are not in the lolita community I ask you to please take a look and consider signing the petition.

Okay no more negativity in this post.  I promise.  For starters here is 9 hours (no you do not have to watch or listen to it all) of cat purrs.  So relax.  zzzzzzzz   And now to the rest of my glorious happy list!

June 22, 2015

Reading Web Comics

I used to read comics every day in the news paper.  I had a few favorites that I always read and then several that I enjoyed reading on days I had more time.  Rose is Rose and Garfield were most certainty my favorite two.  Peanuts was a favorite right behind those two.  But it also felt very much like a classic.  I would wonder if there was any news paper that didn't have the Peanuts in it.

Some of the others I really enjoyed (and practically read religiously) were Baldo, For Better or For Worse, Pickles, Family Circus, Zits, and Luann.  I really enjoyed the comics section.  But now a days I don't ever see the paper.  I should likely get links to some of my old favorites and start reading them again.  Years ago I started reading web comics. . . okay more like a decade and a half ago.  So today I thought I'd share what I have been reading lately.

Things I Love Thursday: Rainy Day Inside

It is pouring down outside.  But I am inside with a delicious cup of hot tea.  I love sleeping to the sound of the rain beating down on the roof, so I ended up sleeping in this morning.  My nephew is having fun with baby games on his moms phone.  It gets the silliest statements stuck in my head.

Anyhow, good morning and on to some of the things I have loved this week.

June 11, 2015

Things I Love Thursday: International Lolita Day

I got to dress up this past weekend in my new Putumayo dress.  The local community celebrated International Lolita Day.  It was a blast.  Work was rough and my sleep has been a bit weird.  But I am still happy and grateful.
